Our Divisions
Our office handles criminal defense, juvenile defense, child advocacy, appellate, and expungement cases.
We take only those cases which are appointed to us, and we take all those who are appointed. For those unable to afford private counsel in Tulsa County, we are the only line of defense between the accused and the accusers.
If a person cannot afford counsel and becomes our client, we represent the rights of that client no matter who they are, what they are charged with, the evidence against them, or how popular they might be in the community.
Our duty is to best navigate the legal landscape alongside our clients.
Criminal Defense
Our criminal defense attorneys represent people charged with misdemeanor and felony crimes. Our criminal attorneys have tens of thousands of hours of experience in the courtroom arguing motions and conducting trials. We have more trial experience than any law firm in Oklahoma, and we measure our success in lives saved, freedom won, and rights protected.

Juvenile Defense
Juvenile defense focuses on cases that involve children under the age of 18.
Our juvenile defense attorneys address:
- Juvenile deprived matters, which are cases related to the abuse and/or neglect of a minor
- Juvenile delinquency matters, which are violations of criminal laws by a minor
- Juvenile involuntary commitment for mental health and substance abuse to inpatient treatment
- Children in need of supervision
- Issues of status of offenders regarding truancy, runaways, or inability of parents to discipline at home
- Medical treatment emergencies for children when parents are unable to or will not consent to necessary medical treatment to save a child’s life

Child Advocacy
The attorneys of the Child Advocacy Division of the Tulsa County Public Defender’s Office are appointed to represent minor children in domestic, guardianship and adoption cases.
Child Advocacy Division attorneys advocate for the legal interests and expressed preferences of their clients by:
- Reviewing our clients’ trial court records, including all exhibits, transcripts, and other documents
- Raising the appropriate issues to the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals
Replying to the State’s briefs - Engaging in oral arguments before the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals
- Conducting evidentiary hearings

Apellate
The Appellate Division handles a variety of appellate issues.
Appellate Division attorneys work on:
- Reviewing felony and misdemeanor trial convictions
- Challenging the revocation of suspended sentences
- Responding to the acceleration of deferred sentences
- Addressing the denial of applications to withdraw guilty pleas

Expungements
Our grant-funded Expungement Attorney offers free representation with expungements. This attorney helps former clients of the Tulsa County Public Defender’s Office, or any other clients who qualify, through the expungement process with the ultimate goal of erasing previous criminal records.
